Tubebuddy Coppa Center

What Is Coppa

According to the FTC's Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule, or short COPPA, any YouTube channel that creates videos for children must comply with certain requirements.

Every content creator is being asked by YouTube to identify if each video is intended for kids. Videos that have not explicitly declared if they are or aren't made for kids will the categorized by YouTube content rating AI.

If you or YouTube label one of your videos as made for kids, there are a few negative outcomes.

Ads will no longer be personalized for videos that are aimed at kids on YouTube. Therefore, no matter what age the viewer is, he or she will not see the ads most likely to be clicked on.

The result is that content creators on YouTube will earn significantly less money from their videos.

Regardless of whether or not your videos are made for kids, the YouTube AI may incorrectly classify them as such.

You might not even be aware of this if you have an older channel with hundreds or even thousands of videos.

That's where TubeBuddy's COPPA Center comes in.

What Is the Tubebuddy's Coppa Center

TubeBuddy's Coppa Center allows you to scan all of your videos and identify if the YouTube AI has marked any of them as made for kids.

Any wrongfully classified videos can be reviewed within the tool and manually marked as not made for kids and submitted to YouTube.

How to Use Tubebuddy's Coppa Center

You can locate the tool from within the YouTube Studio.

Open the Content tab and then open TubeBuddy's Bulk & Misc Tools menu and click on COPPA Center.

All you have to do is to press the Start Scan button, and TubeBuddy will perform an analysis of all of your channel videos.

Next Steps

TubeBuddy's COPPA Center is an incredibly useful tool for all YouTube channels operating in a gray area with content that is both attractive to young people and adults alike.

Because of these blurred lines, YouTube's AI can sometimes make mistakes preventing channels from earning their hard-earned ad revenue by wrongly classifying some of their videos as made for kids.

If that's you, then run the COPPA Center report at least once per month to ensure that all of your videos are classified correctly.
