YouTube has 2.6 billion monthly active users. That is about 1 in 3 people from the entire Earth's population of 7.9 billion people, making YouTube the largest video sharing site and streaming video platform worldwide.
YouTube has 113.9 million YouTube channels. Only 4.4% of the 2.6 billion active YouTube users created their own YouTube channel.
This article breaks down the total number of YouTube channels and shows you how many channels have more than 100, 1K, 10K, 100K, 1M, 10M, 50M, and 100M subscribers.
Data Sources & Method
YouTube has neither published the number of YouTube channels on its platform nor provided a breakdown of how many channels fall within specific subscriber ranges.
Due to the lack of accurate and up-to-date YouTube statistics, I manually researched all figures in this article using open-source intelligence methods and data from Google, Google Ads, YouTube, SEMrush, SocialBlade, Statista, GlobalWebIndex, and SimilarWeb.

How many YouTube users have their own channel?
114 million YouTube users decided to become content creators by creating a YouTube channel. That is only a tiny fraction of 4.38% of all YouTube users.
Most YouTube channels have fewer than ten subscribers and never upload videos.
How many YouTubers have 100 subscribers?
28.4 million YouTube channels have at least 100 subscribers. That is 24.93% of all YouTube channels or about 1 in 4 channels.
Many small YouTube creators feel embarrassed because they "only" have a subscriber count of 100 subscribers.
But they shouldn't have to! Let me reframe your subscriber count for you.
If your YouTube channel has 100 subscribers or more, you are already outperforming 85.5 million YouTuber channels with less than 100 subscribers.

How many YouTubers have 1,000 subscribers?
10.1 million YouTube channels have at least 1,000 subscribers. That is 8.86% of all YouTube channels or about 1 in 12 channels.
That may not sound like much, but it means that you have more subscribers than 103,8 million YouTube channels. That is more than 30% of the entire US population! How crazy is that?!
There are many benefits of having 1,000 subscribers. You have access to the YouTube Community Tab (Unlocks at 500 subscribers) that allows you to share social media posts on your YouTube channel.
And once you have accumulated 4,000 hours of watch time, you become eligible to join the YouTube Partner Program.
The number of new channels that joined the YouTube Partner Program in 2020 doubled year-over-year!

How many YouTubers have 10,000 subscribers?
Two million YouTube channels have at least 10,000 subs. That is 1.75% of all YouTube channels or about 1 in 57 channels.
Some of the many benefits of having 10,000 subscribers include access to YouTube Stories and the ability to add a merch shelf under your YouTube videos via Merchandising on YouTube.
You also have access to YouTube Spaces, although YouTube indicated that it would discontinue this program.
How many YouTubers have 100,000 subscribers?
321,100 YouTube channels have at least 100,000 subscribers. That is 0.28% of all YouTube channels or about 1 in 350 channels.
At this stage, YouTube will assign your channel a personal YouTube Partner Manager. You can think of a Partner Manager as your own personal YouTube expert with insider knowledge that can help you grow your channel even faster.
You also become eligible for your first physical award, the Silver Creator Award, aka the Silver Play Button.
How many YouTubers have 1 million subscribers?
32,300 YouTube channels have at least 1 million subscribers. That is 0.028% of all YouTube channels or about 1 in 3,600 channels.
Only very few YouTube channels ever reach one million subs.
Once you reach this milestone, YouTube will send you a Gold Creator Award, aka the Gold Play Button.
How many YouTubers have 10 million subscribers?
1,100 YouTube channels have at least 10 million subscribers. That is 0.00096% of all YouTube channels or about 1 in 11,000 channels.
You will receive the Diamond Creator Award when you reach 10 million YouTube subscribers.
How many YouTubers have 50 million subscribers?
35 YouTube channels, and more than 50 million subscribers. That is 0.000028% of all YouTube channels or about 1 in 3.5 million channels.
At 50 million YouTube subs, you get a Custom Creator Award unique to your channel. PewDiePie received a Ruby Creator Award for his channel.

With 211 million subscribers, T-Series is the most subscribed YouTube channel in 2022.
What is the minimum number of subscribers required to make it to the top 100 of Most Subscribed YouTube Channels?
According to the SocialBlade Top 100 YouTube channel list, you need 32 million subscribers.
How many YouTube channels is the average person subscribed to?
On average, YouTube users subscribe to more than 40 YouTube channels.
But that does not mean that average YouTube users only consume videos from 40 channels.
YouTube's algorithm only looks at channel subscriptions as hints regarding what topics someone might be interested in. The YouTube recommendation algorithm will always recommend other videos based on a user's personal preferences.
Between 60-90% of watch time typically comes from non-subscribers.

How many monetized YouTube channels are there? (i.e How many channels are in the YouTube Partner Program?)
In August 2021, YouTube announced that there are 2 million creators in the YouTube Partner Program.
That is especially interesting since at least 10.1 million YouTuber channels with more than 1,000 subscribers fulfill at least one of two criteria to join the YouTube Partner Program. Yet only one in five channels joins.
Two main reasons cause this. Many YouTube channels with more than 1,000 subs never qualify for the requirement of gaining 4,000 hours of watch time, or they are ineligible because of copyright and community guideline violations.

Which country has the most YouTube channels?
According to the Digital 2022 Global Overview Report, India had the largest YouTube audience with more than 467 million people using the popular social network in January 2022.
With about 247 million YouTube visitors, the United States came in second.
Indonesia ranked third, with 139 million people watching YouTube videos.

On September 1, 2021, YouTube announced that it had surpassed 50 million Music and Premium subscribers.
