LinkedIn Creator Mode – Ultimate Guide for LinkedIn Creators

LinkedIn Creator Mode 2024 Updates

LinkedIn chose to discard the "Creator Mode" label and profile hashtags.

Instead of using profile hashtags to match content creators with interested readers, LinkedIn now uses new AI-driven features and keywords throughout your profile, including the about, experiences, education, certification, and skills sections, to identify your core expertise.

All users now share the same profile layout.

However, most importantly, all LinkedIn creator tools like LinkedIn LIVE, audio events, newsletters, and the follow button are still available, and you should take full advantage of them.

What Is the LinkedIn Creator Mode?

The LinkedIn Creator Mode feature has been super popular on LinkedIn. In 2025 more than 10 million people across the globe are using LinkedIn Creator Mode to engage with their audiences on a daily basis.

About 1.08% of all 1.1 billion LinkedIn users have turned on LinkedIn Creator Mode. In other words, for every LinkedIn content creator, there are 92 users who consume content.

If you want to promote your business by building a personal brand on LinkedIn, then LinkedIn's Creator Mode is perfect for you!

So let's have a look at how does the LinkedIn Creator Mode work.

Get a follow button for your LinkedIn profile

One of the biggest and most obvious changes to your LinkedIn profile is that your primary profile button changes from "Connect" to "Follow".

Meaning you will no longer receive an invitation to connect from people who just want to see your content in their newsfeed.

And don't worry, people can still connect with you when you have a follow button by default, they just have to perform two extra steps by clicking on the three dots ... and then on Connect.

Show the number of followers on your LinkedIn profile

By default, LinkedIn will only display the number of your connections on your profile. Once you reach 500 connections, the number will no longer grow and always display 500+, no matter if you have 510 or more than 10,000.

For LinkedIn followers there is no such limit. Your follower count always shows the exact number no matter how many you have.

And with the LinkedIn Creator Mode you can finally prominently display your follower count at the top of your profile.

Share your favorite topics you create content about on your LinkedIn profile

With LinkedIn Creator mode activated, you can now share a list of up to five LinkedIn hashtags that you create content about on LinkedIn prominently just below your LinkedIn headline.

That's cool for so many reasons! It helps visitors of your profile to quickly identify if you are creating interesting content about topics they're really interested in.

AND it allows the LinkedIn newsfeed algorithm to boost the content of LinkedIn Creators for those five specific hashtags! How cool is that?!

With creator mode enabled, LinkedIn will reorder your profile to bring your Featured and Activity sections to the top.

Your about section is moved down, between Activity and Work Experience.

Overall your profile optimized to show your best content at the very top.

Improved most-recent content section

Your Activity feed will now exclusively showcase your most recent content. Engagement with other posts in terms of likes and comments will be hidden and no longer clutter up your feed.

Sharing content from other content creators or from your own LinkedIn company page to promote your business is still working.

What Are the Benefits of Using the LinkedIn Creator Mode?

Appear in search and discovery results

By activating the LinkedIn Creator Mode you are now eligible to get your content to appear in search and discovery results for other members. Let that sink in!

LinkedIn is finally giving content creators the ability for organic discoverability outside of their already existing network on LinkedIn.

That means that you will be able to get your content in front of people who are interested in the topic of your post, EVEN IF you have no audience, no connections, no followers, or you're starting from scratch and without the need to go viral on LinkedIn.

If this isn't mind bending cool, I don't know what is.

Get more followers on LinkedIn and grow a targeted audience

Turn the Creator Mode on and share content with your network that demonstrates your knowledge and expertise, and you will be able to quickly build an audience of highly engaged people.

By highlighting your top five topics and hashtags that you share content about at the top of your LinkedIn profile, you enable profile visitors to quickly understand what your content is all about, which significantly increases the probability that potential followers will click on your follow button.

For those people who aren't sure if they want to follow you, based on your top five topics, there is another opportunity to convince them.

LinkedIn's Plan B, so to say.

When creator mode is active, your profile top sections will be re-ordered. The about section will be moved further down, making space for your featured pinned content and the new activity section.

The Activity feed will no longer display if you liked or commented on a post. It will only display your own content and content from other creators that you shared with your audience.

This is such a great change. As a LinkedIn content creator, you want people to connect and follow you because they enjoy YOUR content.

By solely featuring your own content in your activity feed, there are no distractions. Visitors can quickly see your most recent posts on LinkedIn and decide if they like your content and style.

Last but not least, creator mode allows you to share your follower count below your top five hashtags. This can give you an additional follower boost, as many people make a decision to follow someone based on social proof, and what could be better proof that your content is valuable than a respectable follower count?

Creator mode allows you to focus and highlight your original content on your profile, instead of distracting visitors with your work experience section.

This helps you to establish your voice on LinkedIn with potential followers who visit your Profile.

Get access to new creator-only analytics tools

Switching to the LinkedIn creator mode puts you first in line for new and upcoming content analytics tools LinkedIn is launching in the coming months.

For a very long time, LinkedIn's biggest weak spot for content creators has been its weak built-in content analytics. Until now, you can only see the number of views, likes, comments, shares, and a top 10 breakdown of viewers by company, role title, and location.

As useful as this can be, LinkedIn can do a lot better.

Imagine having a view and engagement velocity graph for the first 72 hours of posting that allows you to compare your post-performance. Or having a dashboard that allows you to see your top posts, by views, engagement, link clicks, or profile views, just to name a few.

The possibilities are endless and I am super excited to see new content analytics features on LinkedIn.

What's Next for LinkedIn?

Creator Mode is LinkedIn's first step towards creating a dedicated community and special toolsets for the LinkedIn content creator community.

If you have been following the news, you already know that LinkedIn recently started releasing a ton of cool new features aimed specifically at content creators.

Just to name a few, the pronounce your name feature, video cover stories that allow you to share a short video welcome on your LinkedIn profile, replacing your header image with a preview of your LIVE stream, Clubhouse-style audio-only chat rooms, a marketplace for freelancers, and so much more.
