Position yourself as a LinkedIn thought leader

Be the expert in your field, and you'll naturally attract followers

Want to attract LinkedIn followers like a magnet?

Then it's time to position yourself as a LinkedIn thought leader and show off your expertise!

Being an expert in your field is a powerful tool on LinkedIn to attract new followers.

By sharing your knowledge, insights, and expertise with your target audience, you stand out on LinkedIn and establish yourself as a valuable resource of information for your ideal audience.

This allows you to build trust with and establish connections with your ideal audience by consistently delivering value to them daily.

The more value you provide, the more likely they will follow you and stay engaged with your content.

By communicating with your LinkedIn followers on a daily basis, you stay at the top of their minds all the time, so when they are finally ready to take action and buy one of your products or services, they will think of you and not of one of your competitors.

So, embrace your inner expert and share your knowledge with the world. Your followers and potential clients will thank you for it.

Optimize your LinkedIn profile

Want to make a strong first impression on your target audience and attract the right LinkedIn followers?

Then it is time to optimize your LinkedIn profile!

Your LinkedIn profile is your digital storefront, and it is crucial to have it set up correctly if you want to attract the right people.

But don't worry, you don't have to write it like a traditional resume.

To optimize your profile to attract followers, focus on communicating two key qualities:

  • Your expertise and your approachability. Let your profile show that you know what your ideal audience cares about.
  • That you are friendly, helpful, and invested in their success.

Use clear and concise language to explain the value that your followers can expect from your content.

Your goal is to attract a hyperfocused audience that will log in daily to see your latest posts.

So, make sure that your profile speaks directly to them and excludes anyone who would not be a good fit.

In short, optimize your profile to attract the right followers, engage them with valuable content, and watch your following grow!

Get a professional headshot photo.

Make a lasting impression and attract more followers with your LinkedIn profile picture.

A professional headshot is essential to your LinkedIn presence because it shows you are knowledgeable and friendly. It's a great way to make a positive and lasting impression on current and future LinkedIn followers.

But don't settle for a simple selfie!

Invest in a professional photoshoot and select the best shot that showcases the qualities you want to communicate to your target audience.

Work with the photographer to take several pictures and choose the one that best represents your brand and appeals to your ideal followers.

A high-quality headshot is a small investment with big returns—worth every penny!

To ensure that your headshot is picture-perfect, consider the following tips:

  1. Dress for success by wearing clothes that are appropriate for your field and that complement your personal brand.
  2. Make it clear: Make sure your face is the center of attention in the photo and that there are no distractions in the background.
  3. Smile: A natural smile can show that you are friendly and easy to talk to, making you more appealing to people who might want to follow you.
  4. Good lighting: Make sure the lighting is flattering and highlights your features in the best way possible.
  5. Hairstyle: Choose a hairstyle that complements your facial shape and enhances your overall appearance.
  6. Confidence: Stand tall, hold your head high, and exude confidence in your headshot.

Following these tips and investing in a professional headshot will ensure that your profile picture accurately represents you and attracts the right followers to your LinkedIn profile.

Optimize your LinkedIn headline

A powerful LinkedIn headline is critical to attracting the right followers to your profile.

After your name and profile photo, your headline is one of the second most important parts of your LinkedIn profile.

It is displayed at the top of every piece of content you share on LinkedIn.

A well-written headline clearly communicates who you are, your ideal audience, and your unique value proposition.

It should make it clear to the right person that following you would benefit them in some way.

As a LinkedIn content creator, your headline is crucial to attracting the right followers and building your personal brand.

Your headline should be eye-catching and attention-grabbing while also being informative and accurate.

By highlighting your areas of expertise and the topics you cover, you can attract the right audience that will be interested in your content and will follow you.

There are several types of headlines that you can use to achieve this.

Follow-me headlines, for example, are direct and encourage people to follow you by highlighting the topics and themes you cover in your content.

Audience headlines, on the other hand, are more indirect and focus on highlighting your ideal audience by giving them an attractive title.

In my article on Best LinkedIn Headlines, you can learn more about the best LinkedIn headlines for content creators.

In conclusion, a powerful LinkedIn headline is essential to attract the right followers and building your personal brand as a LinkedIn content creator.

By pointing out your areas of expertise and the topics you cover, you can attract the right audience and grow your following.

Optimize your profile for LinkedIn SEO

To attract as many followers as quickly as possible, it's essential that your profile is discoverable via the LinkedIn search feature.

You can achieve this by adding key phrases to your LinkedIn profile that your ideal audience might type into the search field on LinkedIn.

Let's say you are a copywriter who wants to build an audience of ideal clients in senior marketing roles. How would someone in such a role look for someone like you?

Do they know that they should search for "copywriter" in "New York"? Or might they use non-industry terms such as "writer" or "author"?

Make sure to include all of these terms in your LinkedIn bio to account for the fact that not all members will know the correct search term and expect people to make mistakes.

Make your LinkedIn profile searchable

Optimizing your LinkedIn SEO is just the first step. There is a second equally important step you must take if you want to get found on LinkedIn.

You have to make your LinkedIn profile public, both for internal LinkedIn searches and for external search engines such as Google or Bing.

You can access your LinkedIn profile privacy settings here.

Make sure to set every setting to public.

  • Basic (name, number of connections, and region)
  • Profile photo
  • Background photo
  • Headlines
  • Websites
  • Summary
  • Articles & Activity
  • Current Experience
  • etc.

Turn on LinkedIn Creator Mode

LinkedIn recently launched a new feature specifically for LinkedIn content creators. It's called the LinkedIn Creator Mode and gives you additional features, including a new and improved layout for your LinkedIn profile.

You can select up to five hashtags to add to your profile to let your ideal audience know what topics you are creating content about. If your content and your profile hashtags match, you can experience an additional boost in organic reach.

Your connect button will be replaced with a follow button. This is super useful as the maximum number of connections per profile is 30,000, while the maximum number of followers is unlimited.

Connections can send you messages and see all of your posts. Followers can only see all of your posts.

Having "Follow" as your default button ensures that you never hit your 30,000 connections limit, don't get drowned in spam messages, and only receive connection requests from people who are really serious.

And don't worry, you can still connect with others. The connect feature just moved to the "More" menu on your profile.

Update your LinkedIn profile frequently

Always make sure to frequently update your LinkedIn profile when anything changes.

It's a great tell that you are actually active on the platform and increases the chances that people will start following you.

Grow a powerful LinkedIn network

Start with connecting with people you know

When you're starting on LinkedIn, you probably have no connections at all.

A good place to start is connecting with people you know in real life.

  • Family members.
  • Friends.
  • Current or former colleagues.
  • Alumni from university.
  • People, you met at a conference.
  • etc.

Suppose your profile has only a few connections.

In that case, you might be experiencing a low acceptance rate, as many people are naturally inclined to assume that a profile with just a few connections might be a fake or bot account.

Getting your profile quickly to 100 to 200 connections adds social proof and increases the likelihood that more people will connect with you and follow you.

This will help you kickstart your LinkedIn journey.

Connect with 100 ideal clients

A great option to teach the LinkedIn recommendations algorithm is to proactively connect with people who are part of your ideal audience.

Li Jin adaptation of Kevin Kelly's 1,000 True Fans theory beautifully demonstrates that many businesses are able to generate life-changing revenue by focusing on their top 100 VIP clients.

When we apply this idea to LinkedIn, we can achieve outstanding results.

For once, we are in a very privileged position that allows us to interact with and provide value to people who would benefit the most from our products and services.

At the same time, we also train the LinkedIn recommendation algorithm to find similarities within our network to recommend

  • People similar to our ideal 100 to us.
  • Our profile to people similar to our ideal 100.

Create a close supporting network

It's sometimes easy to forget that LinkedIn is a social media network where like-minded individuals network and collaborate with one another.

That's why it's super important to get two things right from the start.

Focus on building genuine relationships on LinkedIn and be proactive about building your network.

Choose the people you want to connect with carefully. Connect only to people with whom you see genuine opportunities to collaborate in the future.

Before you connect with someone, make sure to learn more about them, read their LinkedIn profile, visit their website, research their business on Google, etc.

Most people on LinkedIn fail because they never speak to anyone they connected with. Don't be that person. Use what you learned about them to start a real conversation around specific details that are important to the other person.

LinkedIn tracks who you interact with and uses this data to make better recommendations about who else you should connect with and who should follow your content.

Connect with your biggest fans

Once you publish new content on your LinkedIn profile regularly, you will notice that a few people consistently show up for every post.

  • They will leave comments.
  • They will share it.
  • They will like it.

These are your biggest fans, who probably already follow your profile.

Connecting with them can take these relationships to the next level, creating an even stronger bond and encouraging future engagement.

By keeping your closest fans happy and connected to you, you're helping other people to discover your content organically on LinkedIn.

Engage with the content of your fans

Once you've connected with your most important followers on LinkedIn, it's time to make sure that you're engaging with them in a two-way relationship.

You can start by engaging with the content of your fans when they share something interesting on their feed.

Make it a habit and engage with at least 2-3 posts every time you browse your newsfeed. People will take notice!

Over time as more and more people become part of your LinkedIn family, you build a reputation of being open and approachable which will help you grow your network even faster.

Network and collaborate with your connections

Collaborate with others on LinkedIn to gain followers and reach new audiences.

This allows you to quickly grow a relevant audience for both of you.

Here are some ideas:

  • Interview someone during a LinkedIn LIVE.
  • Ask someone to contribute a paragraph to one of your next articles.
  • Do a Q&A session about a specific topic and invite a few panel guests.

Endorse your network's skills

If one of your connections is an expert in a specific area, visit their profile, find their skill section, and endorse them for skills that you can vouch for.

Your endorsements should be based on your experience with that specific skill.

Most people will be happy to return the favor, so this is one of the easiest ways to boost your own skills section.

The best part is that whenever someone visits a profile that you endorsed for a skill, they will see a link to your profile next to specific skills in which you are an expert.

Write LinkedIn recommendations for people you know

By writing a meaningful recommendation for another member, you are effectively placing an ad on their LinkedIn profile.

People are often very happy to share recommendations and put them on their profiles, especially those that are positive.

The more recommendations you write, the more ads you have all across LinkedIn.

Every time someone clicks on your name next to a written recommendation, they are redirected to your LinkedIn profile, where they have a chance to learn more about you and to follow you if they see what they like.

Become a LinkedIn content creator

Create a killer LinkedIn content strategy

To become a successful LinkedIn content creator you have to understand your audience deeply and then use that knowledge to create a bespoke LinkedIn content strategy that focuses on topics that are close to their heart.

I recommend starting with your audience's most frequently asked questions as a starting point, and then grouping questions in specific content buckets.

You can learn more about this in my LinkedIn Leads Bootcamp program, where I show you how to develop a complete LinkedIn content strategy from scratch over 21 days.

Create "Breaking News" posts

Everybody wants to follow the person who knows and reports about the most recent news first.

Being the first makes you unique, and there is value in that cannot be overstated.

When you share a piece of news, make sure to always add your own spin to it.

Let your audience know what news means so they can make informed decisions for their business.

Do this at least two to three times per week, and you can grow your audience of loyal followers in no time.

Write LinkedIn articles to establish your expertise

You should start writing articles on LinkedIn if you haven't already.

LinkedIn offers a unique publishing platform with a very affluent audience.

You can attract the right people as followers by writing articles about key issues of your ideal audience.

I recommend writing at least 1,000 to 1,500 words per article. That's about three to five regular LinkedIn posts.

Using multiple headlines in your article will allow readers to easily determine if they will find the information they're looking for.

Craft short bite-sized LinkedIn text posts

You can write up to 3000 characters, or roughly 600 words, in a LinkedIn text post.

Text posts are ideal for telling your audience something you learned in business or life.

If you share quality advice in your text posts, you will get people to follow you and grow an audience quickly on LinkedIn.

Share photos on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a great place to share photos and will help you grow more followers on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn content creators who prioritize a content mix achieve better results as they tend to attract users with different content preferences such as written content, photos, and videos.

Here are some ideas you can share in pictures.

  • You achieved something you are proud of.
  • You traveled to an exciting destination.
  • You discovered something unusual that could be valuable or interesting to your audience.

Create and publish videos on LinkedIn

Publishing videos on LinkedIn is another awesome option to attract new followers. It closes the content gap between written content and photos with audio-visual content.

LinkedIn works a bit differently than YouTube when it comes to videos.

Videos are not evergreen and only discoverable for a few days after publication.

That being said, you also enjoy an unfair advantage over YouTube videos. Native LinkedIn videos are preferred by the LinkedIn newsfeed algorithm and reach a much wider audience of ideal customers organically.

Always remember to include subtitles with any video you upload to LinkedIn. They help you to reach people with hearing impairments and increase the probability that LinkedIn members will watch your videos.

When someone scrolls through their newsfeed, LinkedIn videos automatically play muted without audio. If your video has subtitles, people can read the first few seconds in order to decide if it's worth watching.

Share Your documents on LinkedIn

By sharing documents on LinkedIn, you're giving people another form of content to consume.

What's special about documents is that there is basically no limitation in terms of how much content you can include. There is no difference between sharing a one-page PDF and a 100 page ebook.

You can share all kinds of documents on LinkedIn.

  • PowerPoint presentations.
  • PDF document.
  • Word documents.

I recommend thinking in terms of downloadable lead magnets such as

  • worksheets
  • cheat sheets
  • multi-page summary of your conference notes
  • ebooks
  • resources guides
  • tutorials
  • etc.

The better the quality, the more people will follow you after sharing this type of content. You can check out this article to find even more lead magnet ideas.

Maybe have a white paper that contains useful tips for someone who might become a customer.

By sharing documents, you're giving people another form of content to consume.

The better the quality, the more people will follow you after sharing this type of content.

Document posts are sometimes also known as carousel posts. You can learn how to create LinkedIn carousel posts here.

Create LinkedIn events

Events are a great way to meet your followers and connections in person.

Consider creating a LinkedIn event and inviting everyone in your network to meet offline.

In-person events can focus on networking, presenting educational content, or combining the two.

I recommend adding a slide to your presentation with a QR code to your LinkedIn profile so attendees can quickly find your LinkedIn profile to follow you.

Of course, you can also print it on a printed banner or poster if you like.

Host educational workshops and webinars

A very effective way to attract new LinkedIn followers is by hosting an educational workshop or webinar.

You can do it as an in-person event, or an online webinar, or a live stream (more about this later).

Pick a topic that is relevant to your audience and your expertise, and then create a short 20–30 minute presentation around it where you share useful insights, strategies, and tactics with your dream audience.

Such events always attract a wide variety of people from the exact niche you are trying to target and are a great way to gain new followers.

Make sure to include the following call to action in your presentation

  • Link to your LinkedIn profile
  • Add a QR code with a link to your profile so people can take a photo with their smartphones.
  • Ask people to search for your name on LinkedIn or to scan the QR code to follow you.
  • Let them know what topics you talk about on your LinkedIn profile.

Livestream on LinkedIn

Did you know you can gain new followers by going LIVE on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn has a great live streaming feature.

Here are a few ideas for your next live streaming event:

  • Run a Q&A session where you answer audience questions about your products and services.
  • Offer a mini masterclass on an upcoming change in your industry that will affect many of your ideal clients and share solutions.
  • Interview one of your customers in a podcast-style event.

I recommend using Restream to go live on LinkedIn.

Create LinkedIn Stories

As a result of the popularity of Instagram Stories, other social media platforms decided to implement a similar feature.

LinkedIn introduced LinkedIn Stories to the world in 2020.

You can check out my Ultimate Guide to LinkedIn Stories for recommendations and best practices on how to gain new followers by sharing engaging LinkedIn Stories with your audience.

(Update: LinkedIn retired LinkedIn Stories after September 30, 2021. Unfortunately, this feature doesn't exist anymore.)

Optimize your LinkedIn content for maximum engagement

Use LinkedIn hashtags in every post

To match interested readers with specific content creators, LinkedIn groups and categorizes content into different content categories based on hashtags.

LinkedIn hashtags are special text snippets that always start with a #hash sign and can be embedded in LinkedIn posts and other parts of the LinkedIn ecosystem, such as your LinkedIn profile or company page.

Hashtags are a great tool to reach new people interested in the specific topics you are talking about.

They also boost the organic reach of your content and make your posts discoverable via LinkedIn search.

LinkedIn's search feature indexes hashtags and members can find the most popular and relevant posts that use specific hashtags via the dedicated content discovery page for each hashtag.

(For added A-Z tips and hacks on LinkedIn hashtags, refer to "The LinkedIn Hashtag Ultimate Guide" )

Tag connections and companies in your LinkedIn post

LinkedIn allows you to tag people, companies, or organizations in your posts.

All you have to do is to type the @ key and slowly type out the name of either the person or the company.

If you're tagging someone in your content, you will notice that they will often engage with your posts, for example, leaving a comment, liking, or sharing your post.

The effect of these actions is that your post will now be recommended to their connections and followers, exposing your content to a new audience which will help you grow your number of followers quickly.

Create a call to action in every post

You must ask people to follow you if you want to gain LinkedIn followers quickly.

Add a call to action at the end of every post and give your readers a mini elevator pitch and let them know what themes and topics they can expect when they follow you.

I also recommend adding a similar pitch to your LinkedIn bio and optimizing your LinkedIn headline to clearly communicate the value of your thought leadership content at all times.

Reply to all comments

Every time you share a post on LinkedIn, make sure to engage with your audience in the content section.

By taking the time to reply to all comments, you are sending a strong message to all current and future followers:

  • You are active on the platform. It's YOU creating the posts, not some random social media manager.
  • You value one-on-one conversations with your audience. This encourages more and more people to step out of their comfort zone to leave their own comments, creating more and more engagement, and boosting your organic reach on LinkedIn.
  • Every time someone comments, your post will be shown to a segment of their audience, exposing your posts to new people who have never heard of you before and creating new opportunities to gain new followers on LinkedIn.

Thank people for sharing

LinkedIn's algorithm considers sharing one of its most important signals.

You can find the people who shared your content in the analytics tab.

Leave a comment under their "share" and thank them for sharing your post.

This makes it more likely that they will share your posts again in the future because they get positive feedback from you.

Optimize your posts for maximum virality

When one of your LinkedIn posts goes viral, you can quickly gain 1,000, 10,000, or even 100,000 views.

Going viral is not something you can ever fully control. But you can take the right actions every day that are required for posts to go viral.

And with some luck, the right timing, and the right people online at the perfect time, you can eventually turn one of your posts into a viral post.

Optimize your posts to contain a ton of value that is useful to a broad range of people in your audience.

Ensure that your text is easy to read and doesn't contain complicated grammar or uncommon words known only to an academic audience.

It's also important to elicit strong emotions such as shock, awe, or surprise to get more people to engage with your posts.

Write meaningful comments on other people's posts

If you're looking for people to follow on LinkedIn, one of the best ways to show your expertise is to leave meaningful comments on other people's posts.

By "meaningful" I mean that you are sharing something that is benefiting both the author and the other people in the comment section.

Avoid self-promotion at all costs and let your knowledge and charm do the talking. You are more likely to gain new followers if you don't promote yourself.

Encourage others to share your LinkedIn content

To attract more followers on LinkedIn, it's super important to expose your posts to new people who don't know who you are.

One way to achieve this is by encouraging your readers and viewers to share your posts on their newsfeeds.

When someone shares one of your posts, it's as if they are reposting your post under their name with a direct link to visit your LinkedIn profile to learn more about what you have to offer.

I recommend two ways.

  • You can tell people to share it on their feed.
  • Or you can recommend a specific group of people who might benefit from learning about one of your posts. The idea is that not everyone feels comfortable resharing content. Some members prefer forwarding a link to a specific post. By pointing out a particular sub-segment of your audience who might benefit the most from your post, you remind people to think about if they know someone like that to whom they might forward your post.

By doing this, you will see your LinkedIn followers grow with each post you share.

Take advantage of LinkedIn groups

Join the right LinkedIn groups

LinkedIn is working to make LinkedIn groups more attractive, much like Facebook groups were in the beginning.

By joining LinkedIn groups, connecting with other members, and sharing valuable content within those groups, you increase the chance that some of those targeted niche people will follow you personally.

This way, they can be sure to always get your updates, even when you are not posting in the group.

You can actively encourage this behavior by telling people that they can also follow you for a specific topic or theme every time you share something in the group.

Create your own LinkedIn group

There are many ways to attract a niche audience on LinkedIn, and one of the most effective is creating a LinkedIn group.

By curating content around a certain theme, you can attract the same people you want as your audience members.

For example, to attract people interested in architecture, create a group of people who might hire an architect. Then, share valuable content that will engage the community.

As the group grows, more members will invite other members, and they'll learn about you through the group and may even follow you in person.

This is another organic way to grow your LinkedIn audience.

Create a LinkedIn Business Page

Creating a LinkedIn page for your business is a great way to promote your company and share additional content with LinkedIn users.

By cross-sharing content between your profile and your LinkedIn page, you're increasing the chances that more people will see it.

LinkedIn treats pages and profiles separately, so each one provides an opportunity to reach different audiences.

To attract LinkedIn followers, use the @tagging technique above and insert a link to your profile in every page post.

Creating an Employee Advocacy Program to activate your employees, amplifying the distribution effects of content put out on the business page is also another valuable way to grow your followers. You can learn more about LinkedIn team strategies in my LinkedIn Accelerator Program.

LinkedIn success mindset

Show up every day on LinkedIn

The LinkedIn success mindset requires you to show up every day on LinkedIn.

By consistently posting content at least once daily, LinkedIn will quickly learn that your content is valuable.

You are creating a positive feedback loop where people like, comment, and share your posts.

The result is that the LinkedIn algorithm will show your posts to more and more people, allowing you to grow more followers even faster.

Always share value on LinkedIn

Every time you can provide value to other people, people want to follow you.

This is how we can quickly grow your audience from 0 to 10,000 LinkedIn followers:

  • By not holding back. Too many people worry about giving away their secrets and give half-assed advice that is not useful to anyone. Don't be that person. Realize that advice is cheap, trust and the ability to implement is rare.
  • By just giving genuinely good recommendations and having a unique perspective that nobody else is sharing. Too many people just regurgitate what everyone else is saying because it's the safe thing to do. Take a risk and allow yourself to stand out with a unique opinion. It will pay off big.

This way, you are increasing the perceived value of consuming your post and making it more likely that others will follow you.

Establish your thought leadership outside of LinkedIn

Grow on other social media networks

Grow your other social media channels as well, so you always have a backup in case LinkedIn should ever stop working.

It's also a great way to attract new followers from other platforms that are not yet on LinkedIn.

You can achieve this by cross-promoting content on different social media networks.

This works both ways. For example, you could share a photo on your LinkedIn feed and encourage people to follow you on Instagram to see the remaining images.

Promote your LinkedIn profile everywhere

There are a lot of places you can share your LinkedIn profile.

You can put it in your email signature, website, social media platforms, and many other places.

The more you share your LinkedIn profile, the more likely people will discover and follow you.

Print your LinkedIn profile on your business card

There are two ways to share your LinkedIn profile URL with potential connections. You can share a direct link to your profile or a scannable QR code.

To get a QR code:

  1. Visit the LinkedIn app on your smartphone.
  2. Head to the "My Network" section and click on the blue icon on the bottom right.
  3. Select "Scan QR Code".

Click on the "Save to Photos" button to save a PNG image of your QR code and share it wherever you like.

Why not add your QR code to the back of your business card?

For maximum impact, include the text "Scan this QR code to follow me on LinkedIn" next to the code.

When networking or attending events, freely give out your business cards so people can easily scan your QR code to follow you.

Cross-promote your LinkedIn profile on other social media channels

There are many ways to promote your LinkedIn profile to attract new followers.

A neat trick is to promote a link to your LinkedIn profile on other social media networks.

Sharing valuable content for your audience on other social media networks is a great way to get the word out about your LinkedIn profile.

Just let them know what topics you talk about on your LinkedIn profile, and make sure to include a link to your LinkedIn profile as your bio link or profile description.

Doing this will attract new people to follow you on LinkedIn.

Create your own email newsletter

Consider creating a newsletter and sharing great content with your subscribers to attract new LinkedIn followers.

You can promote your LinkedIn profile in your newsletters.

Either within a social media section where you promote icons with links to your different social media channels or by sharing links to specific LinkedIn posts where you share additional resources related to the content of your emails.

This is another way to grow your LinkedIn audience and content organically.

Start a blog

Starting a blog is a great way to get your name and work in front of a larger audience.

Writing quality articles and publishing them on your website or blog can attract the attention of people searching for information about a specific topic on Google.

By demonstrating your knowledge and expertise in writing, you create another opportunity to attract new followers to your LinkedIn profile.

Your articles should be comprehensive and contain at least 2,500 words to rank well on Google.

You can organically grow your LinkedIn following by including a link to your LinkedIn profile in the sidebar of your blog or below each article.

Guest blog on other notable websites

You can also consider becoming a guest author on other people's websites and blogs.

Every blog is a new opportunity to meet new followers for your LinkedIn profile.

Use existing articles published on your blog or LinkedIn as social proof to get your foot into the door.

Most publishers are ok with including a link to your website or LinkedIn profile below your guest post.

So make sure to take advantage of this. I recommend including a mini elevator pitch to let people know what type of content you share on LinkedIn.

For example, follow me on LinkedIn, where I talk about content marketing and personal branding.

Become a podcast guest

Being interviewed on other podcasts is a great way to get your name and face out there.

You can attract new LinkedIn followers in no time by exposing yourself to new audiences on different podcasts.

Apply to join as a guest for podcasts close to your niche and propose some exciting topics to discuss.

Once you have spoken on a few podcasts, share links to previous episodes for social proof.

Most podcasts are happy to include links to your social profile and website in the episode description.

Ask them to include a link to your LinkedIn profile to attract new followers.

Start your own podcast

Starting a podcast is a great way to get noticed and attract new LinkedIn followers.

You can quickly grow your audience by creating exciting content and inviting guests relevant to your industry.

Be sure to include your LinkedIn profile URL in the description of each podcast episode and on the about page of your podcast to grow your LinkedIn following quickly.

Become a public speaker

You can do a few things to get more people to discover and follow you on LinkedIn.

One is to become a speaker at events, both online and offline.

Promote your LinkedIn profile at these events by putting your profile link on the event page, reminder emails, PowerPoint slides, and handouts.

This way, you can attract people from the offline world to become your followers on LinkedIn.

Join panel discussions

Participating in panel discussions is a great way to get started with public speaking. You can have a conversation on stage without giving a continuous speech as a solo speaker.

Panels are a great way to tell people about a specific topic your dream audience loves.

They allow you to demonstrate your expertise and are an incredibly powerful tool to attract new LinkedIn followers.

Just ensure that the event organizers include a link to your LinkedIn profile on their speaker page.

You can also use the QR code trick and bring a stack of freshly printed business cards with your LinkedIn profile URL.

LinkedIn hacks

Create a paid LinkedIn advertising campaign

If you want to grow your audience on LinkedIn, one advanced approach is to run a paid ad campaign promoting your LinkedIn profile.

You can reach many relevant people this way, especially if your LinkedIn profile is optimized and easy to understand.

When running ads, ensure you have a clear value proposition that speaks to your target audience's specific problem and send them to your LinkedIn profile instead of your website.

Once you have a certain number of people in your audience, LinkedIn will start recommending you to other similar people.

This is another way you can grow your audience on LinkedIn.

Join a LinkedIn engagement pod

There are pros and cons to joining LinkedIn engagement pods.
